Walking holiday in the Balkans
UNLIMITED Travel with this trip takes you to some of the most fascinating landscapes and settlements of the Western Balkans – in the Prokletije Mountains, the artificial lake of Drin river, Lake Skadar and the Bay of Kotor.
Follow old trade roads across the “Cursed Mountains” in Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania. These are the gateways to a hidden corner of Europe.
Day I
Arrival either at airport Podgorica MNE (transfer 5 hrs) or airport Pristina KOS (transfer 1 hrs) to Peja. Settle in and time to explore Peja
Day II
Visit of of the region Peja. Get an insight of the history and all day life whilst walking cross the city visiting the local greenmarket, traditional buildings, UNESCO World Heritage monastery “Decanj” meeting local people. Return to Peja.
Day III
Todays hike leads us across mountain villages in the boarder region Kosovo/Montenegro. Overnight in mountain cabins.
Day IV
Boardercrossing hike from Kosovo to the frist pasture in Montenegro. Transfer to the city of Plav. City walk and overnight.
Day V
Challenging boardercrossing hike from Montenegro to Theth valley. Overnight in a guesthouse above of Theth village.
Day VI
Exploring of Theth, learn more about the blood revenge tower, visit the highest waterfall of Albania and remains of settlements dating back to the Bronce Age. Return to the accommodation.
Day VII
Walking from Theth valley to Valbona valley. Upon arrival in Valbona, transfer to the small town of Bajram Curri.
Day VIII
Ferry boat ride across the stunning landscape of Lake Drin. Continue to Shkodra. City walk in Shkodra.
Day IX
Transfer to Montenegro. Visit of the old royal capital of Montenegro. In the afternoon scenic downhill walk to the Bay of Kotor. Time to explore Kotor.
Day X
Transfer to airport Podgorica/Dubrovnik (1,5 hrs) or to Pristina ( 7 hrs).
